SAY GOODBYE TO MESSY, UNCOMFORTABLE IMPRESSIONS
If your dentist has ever had to take a mold of your mouth then you’ll already know how unpleasant this can be. Conventional impression trays can be very messy, and can even make people gag. Some people find these trays so difficult to tolerate that it can be very tricky for the dentist to get an accurate impression, something that is essential for high quality, accurately fitting restorations. Thankfully Dr Zalaket Dentistry has a better, and more advanced solution to this problem, and can take digital impressions of your mouth. We now use the 3Shape Digital Tooth Scanner to scan teeth.
STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY PRODUCING DIGITALLY ACCURATE MODELS
Dr Zalaket or another dentist at Smile Center Clinics will use a small, lightweight wand that is the size of a dental handpiece to take a series of digital images of your mouth. This produces a 3-D image that is displayed on a screen in the surgery. The whole process is faster than having conventional tray-based impressions. The image can be checked to ensure all the appropriate structures of your mouth are shown, before the files are sent to the laboratory for the model to be constructed. The result is an incredibly accurate model of your mouth that can be used to make high quality, precision fit appliances.
ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL IMPRESSIONS
There are several clear benefits to this system and these include:
- You’ll feel far more comfortable having digital impressions, and we’ll be able to explain your treatment to you much more easily. This is because you’ll be able to clearly see the images of your mouth on our screen, giving you an increased understanding of your oral health.
- You will receive restorations that have a true precision fit. This means you will need to spend less time in the dental chair having your appliance fitted, and there is far less chance that there will be any problems with the fitting.
- Conventional tray-based impressions often result in an appliance that has poorly fitting margins or edges. The accuracy of the 3Dshape Tooth Scanner ensures all margins fit exactly, sealing out bacteria from the restored tooth and protecting it against further infection and decay.
- The digital images are sent directly to the laboratory, along with your prescription, enabling the lab to begin work on your restorations more quickly. This means your treatment can be completed within a shorter time span.
